Correction

Evan has FOUR teeth. I was just changing his diaper and checking on his top teeth (the middle ones are BOTH almost here!) and realized that his 4th tooth on the bottom finally came. He showed some signs, but I thought that he was just being fussy about his boo-boo. YAY EVAN!!!

Pointing, BooBoo and Apple

Evan can point now!!! It's his new "trick." He points at everything and he points when he wants something. This is a huge step in his communication and helps a LOT. Not only that, but it's CUUUUTE! : )

Evan got a pretty bad boo-boo on Monday this week. I will spare you with the nasty details, but I have no problem showing a picture. It's not that bad. It is already healing quite nicely and should be better in no time. It was definitely a humbling moment as a mommy when his "injury" occurred.

Evan loves apples. And so do I. Whenever I have one, he wants it. So I will eat all that I want all the way around and then hand it off to him. He does a really great job scraping off bits with his 3 bottom teeth. When he is done, he throws it on the floor. Joy.

Stroller Strides

Evan & I went to Stroller Strides this morning. It was really fun. It was the grand opening AKA the free class, so there were 40+ moms and their children there.

First, we registered and met a few moms and went on the playground for a little bit.
Then, we got in a circle and did a little warm-up. Then we did a Green Light, Red Light exercise. The babies were across the field from the mommies in their strollers and we did a high knees and a shuffle to the other side. The winner got a tee-shirt. I won the shuffle round, so I got a free tee-shirt! : )
Then, we started our power-walk. There is a really nice trail at Pioneer Park. We stopped a few times along the way for a "station" exercise. There were various types and we each had a piece of tubing for resistance. There was also a short jog on the way for those who wanted to do it. I did it! : )

When we got back, we picked names for the raffle. I won the biggest prize! I couldn't believe it! I won a free unlimited month of yoga at Innerfire Yoga and a really cute pink yoga mat (I already have a blue one, but now I have two!). Evan was asleep at this point (he was DONE), but they had lots of toys and stuff for the kids to do, which he would have had a great time with, but I wasn't going to wake him for toys.

Then, we went back to the pavilion at the park and I got my prize and the membership table was there. There were also a lot of snacks and drinks and a demonstration from Kindermusik. The Kindermusik lady was REALLY weird, but the babies all liked the music aspect of it.

We had to sign the lease on our new apartment, so we had to get going. Overall, it was a great experience and I hope that I can go back for at least a few more classes this summer!

No Camera

We won't have a camera for 2 weeks.

I got sand in the camera. I didn't mean to. Geek Squad doesn't know that, but hopefully our camera will still get fixed for free under the manufacturer's warranty.

Evan Update

This is just Evan's crinkly nose face that he likes to make.

He would prefer to brush his own teeth. However, I do brush them for him, no worries! Those are his new PJ's from The Children's Place- they are the BEST, I wish we had more..

When Evan and I were outside, he decided to give Ernie a kiss.

My little daredevil.

Eric and Evan in the HELICOPTER that MOMMY built.

This is a children's chair that we found at Target. Evan really liked it. I am planning on getting him a special chair for his birthday present from us. It won't be this one though.

Evan and I went to Fireman's Park in Middleton and there was a sand volleyball court. We found a seashell? It is his first one!

I decided to put the bumper back on his crib. Did I mention that he BROKE his mobile in half one day? : ( It was really sad. Anyways, I put the bumper back on and decided that he doesn't need his sleep sack anymore and can sleep with blankets and stuffed animals. This is him in there with ALL his blankets, including his quilts, fuzzy blankets and receiving blankets. He was lovin' it!

Yesterday we went to the pool. I couldn't take pictures there because it was just him and I, but this is his swim outfit. He has another pair of swim trunks too that I think I mentioned in an earlier post when we bought them.

9 months

I can't believe my little man is 9 months old now. He has so much personality and is such a little ham. He is crawling and cruising and pulling things down... and being naughty, but it's cute because he doesn't know any better.

He had his appt. the other day.. Here are his stats:

Birth:
8 lbs. 5 oz.
20 inches

9 months:
20 lbs. 8 oz.
28.5 inches
Head= 43.7 cm (10th percentile.. he has a tiny head? haha)

He dropped down in the weight percentile, but it is because he has been so active.. he hasn't been gaining as quickly. He will have his 12 month appointment in September. At that appointment, he has 4 vaccinations and will have to get his blood drawn.

Summer

So I suppose since yesterday was Memorial Day, summer is officially beginning. We have a lot of things planned for this summer.

On June 3rd, Evan and I will be going to a baby shower for a friend of mine from high school. Her baby boy is due August 7th.
Evan will be attending swim classes at Goodman Aquatic Center in Verona. This will be every Tuesday night from 6/23-8/11 (or something like that). Of course, an adult has to accompany him in the pool. Eric and I will both attend, thought not always together.
I am going to take a "trial" class of Stroller Strides. I bought a used jogging stroller for $20, so we will see if I like it or not. I'm not sure if it is worth it to pay for the classes, but it might be and I might meet some other mommies in the area.
Book Baby will be starting again at the end of June (the 24th, I think) so we will definitely be attending that. Evan will be one of the older babies this time around, I think. We shall see.

We are planning to visit the zoo a few more times, go to a Madison Mallards baseball game and maybe venture out to Milwaukee for the zoo and a Brewers game.

I hope to be able to barbecue somewhat often, but we only have the little charcoal pit. I don't mind though.. I really want to learn how to operate the grill, so hopefully Eric will teach me. If I learn how to do that, I have a lot of things I want to try (kebabs, chicken, steaks.. but KEBABS especially, they are one of my favorites!)

The weather has been making me pretty angry. It is super nice on the days I don't have things planned and super crappy on the days where I have potential plans. Ok, not crappy, but not sunny like I hope for it to be.

Memorial Day

Evan actually liked the swing!

He kept pulling the kitty's tail! Good thing we don't have pets!

A sort of cute one of Evan and I.

Being a big boy and sitting in a chair

Evan and Eric playing tetherball

Evan and Eric on the ATV. He isn't scared- just the wind blowing in his face.

At the beginning of the ATV ride.

Evan and Pip... he isn't too sure about her.

This was today. Evan loves to read.

9 months old

I'm pretty sure I put those in backwards order... The bottom is the beginning.. Haha. Oh well! No going back now!

Evan is officially crawling like crazy and "cruising." He can stand on his own for a second or two, but not if you make him.. He just does it once in a while. He has 3 teeth now. A third came in on the bottom a few days ago. Strrraaaange. I was hoping for some upper teeth, but I know they will come sooner or later!

That's all for now. I will try to update more often.

Monster

I am horrible at updating lately. Sorry.. I will do an update tomorrow.

Evan is a terror haha.. I have to keep my eyes on him!!!

I LOVE MY BOYS

I first must say, I absolutely love Eric. And I absolutely love Evan. They are everything to me and they both love me too. : )

We got a new camera today. Eric just really wanted to make me happy. I have been complaining about it far too much, I am sure. It's just that taking photos is kind of becoming a passion of mine. I love photographing Evan and I hope to start photographing some other things soon.

Evan has begun to pull up on absolutely everything in this house. He is getting hurt multiple times a day, but that's what kids do, right? I'm not a mean mommy for letting him fall down, right? I can't just sit next to him and catch him every time he falls. He needs to learn to fall gracefully, or at least that is my opinion. Of course I will cuddle him and comfort him when he falls and of course I would never let him get seriously injured, but he is definitely in for some goose eggs in the next few months. My dad, Eric and I all won't be surprised if he starts trying to take a few steps within the next month. Crazy! He's still so little!

Broken Camera = (

Our nice camera is broken. : ( I am beyond devastated about it. We don't really have the extra money laying around right now to get a new one. We have a second camera, but in my opinion, the pictures it takes are really poor quality.

I can get a new camera which is basically the same as my old one for $150. We could put it on our credit card, but I think we both feel guilty doing that..

Donate? HAHA

Book Baby

Evan and I went to his first story time this morning. I cannot provide you with pictures because well, frankly, it's kind of weird to whip out your camera at one of these things with a bunch of other people's kids running around... So I'll just tell you about it, ok?

It was at 9:30am, but we got there early because I wanted to check out a new book to read and drop off some magazines at the Magazine Exchange cart. I let Evan crawl around the aisles while I looked at the cookbooks (They called my name, I know I have a problem). Then we went over to the kid's section and there were a couple other moms there with their kids (around age 1). They were really cute and Evan was smiling at the girls (that little flirt!). Then they opened the doors to the room where story time would occur and we all shuffled in. They had name tags aka chew toys for babies and then we had to pick a little carpet square. I sat Evan on the carpet square and he basically stayed there the entire time. There were about 20 kids there ranging from about 6 months to a little over a year. Evan was one of the younger ones, but that's okay- he was entranced by all the kids walking around. I think he wished he could do that too! We sat next to another mom named Allison and her son, Will, who was 9 months old. He was REALLY cute! Evan was being kind of shy, but Will and Evan touched each other a few times.

During the story time, we sang some songs (which were actually really cute, I wasn't embarrassed because everyone was doing it!) and the leader read a few books. Then at the end, she pulled out a big box of board books and another big box full of fun tubes to play with. Evan liked those, but wasn't really up for moving around much. Will, on the other hand, was all over the room. When more and more moms and their babies started to leave, Evan decided to crawl over to the tub of tubes and he grabbed it, went to his knees, then stood right up. He was so proud of himself! When I told another lady that he was only 7.5 months old, she seemed astonished (And that always makes a mommy happy)!

We have Book Baby every Wednesday for a while now and I am so excited. It was a lot of fun, a good place to get out of the house and meet other moms in the area with babies around Evan's age.

P.S. Can we talk about baby shoes? What is your opinion? Should babies wear shoes or just socks? I have recently realized that EVERYONE puts shoes on their baby and I was in the large minority who didn't. I bought Evan a few cheap pairs at Target because I think maybe he should be wearing shoes now.. I bring this up because there was not one baby at this story time without shoes.. the ones walking I understood, but there was a baby younger than Evan wearing shoes.. Was I totally in the dark about babies wearing shoes up until now?

P.S. #2 Thank you to Jolynn for her donation to March of Dimes! Please donate now! It is a great cause. If you want more info, go to www.marchofdimes.com or message me and I'll give you the 411.

Evan's First Easter

Evan at Hilldale Mall the day before Easter. We saw the Easter Bunny several times, but I am just way too paranoid about creepers in bunny and Santa costumes.. Haha! We also went to Buddy Squirrel and got Eric some Peanut Butter Cups and Cheese Corn! Oh, and this is the new Maclaren Stroller! We love it SO much!!!

Lil E with his Easter basket!

Yummy eggs

In the afternoon, we went to the "purple park" in Middleton. It was really fun, but it was a little too windy so we went back to the Middleton Hills park and walked through the wetlands. Can someone please tell me why my little baby looks like such a big boy?!

Evan's new camera smile!
